i-N Conversation: Suede & Princess Julia

Via i-D Online…

Brett Anderson and Mat Osman from Suede said they’d never had an interview quite like it after I turned up armed with a load of questions gleaned from one of our favourite social networks…

Suede are back with their brand new album Bloodsports, the first in 11 years I hasten to add. We settle in and Brett looks at me straight in the eye as we discuss a career that has taken Suede into the darkest recesses and re-emerged with a new set list that taps into their cathartic style of music with an intensity. Older fans will remember the languid form of Brett Anderson fronting Suede with songs such as ‘Animal Nitrate’, ‘Metal Mickey’ and ‘Trash’ then more recently a foray with a solo career and now back again in the driving seat of Suede. He’s still as charismatic and articulate with an abundance of GSOH (good sense of humour!). In this interview Brett and Mat bounce off each other as old friends do with regard, contemplation and a sense of mutual admiration as I ask your questions plus a few of my own.
